Fortunately, to facilitate machine reading of the checks, the blank spaces for filling in the recipient and the amounts are all standardized in the United States for checks on any bank. I cannot speak for other countries. If your handwriting is as bad as mine, or if you want to prepare a check that is difficult to alter, this can be quite useful. Please note that creating and printing a complete check on blank paper is not possible without special magnetic ink and its font for the bottom line containing the bank routing and account numbers. The solution, which will work for nearly any printer, is to attach the blank check form in the exact upper left corner of an 8 1/2' by 11' printer paper using about 3/4-inch of double sided tape (or about 2-inches of single sided tape folded over on itself sticky side out) between the center of the check form and the printer paper. Insert that paper into the printer as you would any other page to print on. It works for me. NOTE 2: This same approach could be used to fill in the blanks on business checks or any other pre-printed form by sizing the rows and colums of the spreadsheet to fit your form. The business checks available to me have all been so radically different in overall size and in the location of the data that I am unable to offer a single template for them. NOTE 3: The Page Preview Section is the only part of the file that is printed on your check form. You can change the font to anything you like by separately highlighting each entry and selecting the font, color and style of your choice. But, I suggest you use an easily readable font! NOTE 4: These templates do not provide for printing your signature on your check form. If you wish, you can write your signature on a blank piece of paper, scan that paper, and crop the scan so you have a small photo of your signature. In MS Word, – page setup – set up the dimensions of the paper to those of your blank check paper. Now measure the distances from the top side and left side of the blank check of each field on the laser checks where you will be entering all the TEXT. For example, where the name of the “Pay to order of” field starts, where the numerical $ amount on the check is located, the written amount, the memo line, etc. In your MS Word template create all the TEXT Boxes and place them according to your X,Y measurements. (X is the measurement from the left side, Y is the measurement from top of paper.) Do that for all of the computer checks fields where you need to enter check details. TIP: If your laser checks are too small to feed into your printer, you can tach with tape or something your laser checks to an 8.5″ X 11″ sheet of paper and do all the above accordingly. Choose this option if, as for the response form, your flyer is promoting an event and you are trying to find out if someone is interested in it and, more importantly, willing to take part in or assist with it. Sign-up forms are more likely to be used with posted flyers, while response forms are more suited to self-mailers. (Some templates are already designed to solicit this information and so do not support the Tear-offs dropdown options.) • Tear-off options are also unavailable if you are creating your flyer from scratch. Choose the color and font scheme for your flyer. Each flyer template comes with a default color and font scheme, but if you wish to use a different color or font scheme, you can do so by selecting the appropriate new scheme. Add a picture directly from a scanner or digital camera • On the Objects toolbar, click Picture Frame, click Empty Picture Frame, and then click your publication to place the empty picture frame. • Right-click the picture frame, point to Change Picture, and then click From Scanner or Camera. • If you have more than one device attached to your computer, select the device that you want to use. • Do one of the following: • Add a picture from a scanner If you use default settings for scanning the image, click Web Quality for pictures that you are adding to an online publication, or click Print Quality for pictures that you are adding to a print publication. Then click Insert to scan your picture. Note: The Insert button might be unavailable with some scanners because the scanner software doesn't support an automatic scan. Click Custom Insert instead. • Add a picture from a camera or another device If the selected device is a camera or another device (not a scanner), or if you want to customize any settings before you scan the picture, click Custom Insert, and then follow the instructions that come with the device that you are using. Add a picture by using the Graphics Manager • On the Objects toolbar, click Picture Frame, click Empty Picture Frame, and then click your publication to place the empty picture frame. • Right-click the picture frame, point to Change Picture, and then click Graphics Manager. • In the Graphics Manager task pane, under Select a picture, point to the name of the empty picture frame that you want to replace, click the arrow, and then click Insert Picture in this Frame. • In the Insert Picture dialog box, click the picture that you want. If you don't see the picture you want, browse to the folder that the picture is in. • Do one of the following: • To embed the picture, click Insert. • To link the picture to the picture file on your hard disk, click the arrow next to Insert, and then click Link to File.
